Based in North East Victoria, the community energy retailer will be community owned and operated, giving local communities control over their energy future.
What is it? The community energy retailer will be a community owned and managed business, selling electricity to local customers. It will also allow households with solar (and a battery system) to trade electricity with one another.
The community energy retailer will:
- Support local renewable energy projects
- Retain profits in the community
- Provide a clean energy alternative to the big power companies
- Create local jobs
- Allow for energy trading between households.
When? The community energy retailer is hoping to launch in the second half of 2018 or early 2019.
